Why open frame wins on site

  • Dust and heat: an open frame has direct airflow and is far easier to clean than a canopy.
  • Maintenance: filters, injectors and belts are reachable in minutes, which matters when a machine is down.
  • Price and weight: lower purchase cost and easier to move between sites.

Load fluctuation is the real challenge

  • On a site, welders, concrete mixers and breakers start and stop all day.
  • Size the set for the worst combination running at the same time, not the average load.
  • For very unstable loads, consider a larger set running at partial load rather than a small set running at its limit.

Dust and fuel quality protection

  • Fit an outer pre-filter or oil bath filter in very dusty conditions and clean it daily.
  • Keep the fuel drum sealed and let it settle before refuelling; contaminated diesel damages the injection pump.
  • Cover the set when it is not running, but never while it is running.

Transport and site placement

  • Open frame sets from 3 kW to 9 kW are light enough for two people to move on the wheel kit.
  • Place the set on level ground and never inside a closed room without ventilation.
  • Exhaust must point away from working areas and from any intake air.
